As you already know I’ve been a member of Toastmasters since September 2020. Starting point for my way to becoming an area director was December 2021. At this time our district and division leaders informed us that we could now apply for vacant positions. Since I already had a leading role at my club, I thought I wanted to lead on the next level as well. Therefore, I applied as an area director. The interview took place on February 22nd. Since everyone involved in the application process had a good feeling about me being area director, I got appointed at the District Council Meeting in May (District Conference 2022 – District 95 Annual Conference (toastmasters-95.org). Notice that I didn’t get elected because I was appointed as area director. Other roles such as club growth director will be occupied by election.
At July 1st, I took over as area director of area D4 and I am expected to organize my first COT. Since I had never done that, and I am completely new to the role as area director I need specific information and training for my new role. Therefore, I received a handbook for area directors and a training on Saturday the 25th of June. I received some insights about the upcoming tasks, the role of the area and the overall vision of the district.
