Club Officer Training on January 11th 2020 in Munich

Club Officer Training

On January 11th over 30 officers representing English, German, French and Chinese speaking Toastmasters participated at the Club Officer Training of the Areas D1 and D3. It was the first attendance from the newly chartered IngolSpeakers and Microsoft Deutschland. Representatives of the Munich Chinese Toastmasters, a prospective club were also in house.
Our host was the European Business School, a long term collaborator of the Toastmasters in Bavaria, whose values we strongly identify with: education and leadership.
A rich agenda kept everyone engaged the whole day: Nadine Wagner inspired us to Harness the Power of Ideas, VolcanoJane shared techniques to Explore our inner resources using Dynamic Metavision, Aymeric Gerardin analyzed the Anatomy of strategic relationships, Tulia Lopes offered tips on Increasing effectiveness through Situational Leadership and last but not least,  Ineke Vermeulen led a FAQ + Q&A session on Pathways, as a final push to motivate every club member to complete their old educational books and find the fitting path!

Toastmasters, whether they are officers or not, enjoy being on stage. Here, the VP-Eds shared their main learnings of their experience exchange session with other participants.

For the first time in years, there were also non-Toastmasters on a COT stage in Munich. Viktoria Kozhova, co-founder of 15×4 Munich, along with Evgeny Labzin, head of speakers preparation of the same organization, offered a fireside chat (for real!) with the officers. They shared their vision on the biggest Munich based science slam event series, their solutions to the biggest challenges on holding the team together, growing the organization and delivering quality content.

An unexpected, and unusual topic  on the agenda was also the introspection section. Club Officers are familiar with multitasking and doing hard work in a short time frame, so giving them a couple of minutes to rediscover their drivers as leaders and speakers, offer a reflection about what made them fall in love with their club and befriend the other club members in the first place was a well-deserved – perhaps necessary – luxury.

All the feedback from respondents claimed to have met new people whom they will keep in touch with and to have been much and very much encouraged to speak out their mind. The overall satisfaction lies at 4.9/5, 9 of 10 officers will continue their engagement behind the scenes of Toastmasters in the upcoming term, 4.6/5 was the average for the sessions content. The logistics- the goodies we shared, the location accessibility and space, the session timing got also very good and excellent grades!

If you’ve missed this COT, you can still join the upcoming ones:

  • 18th January (D2, Munich, German)
  • 25th January (D4/D6) (Nuremberg, English+German)
  • 25th January (D5, Ulm, German)
  • 1st  February (Stuttgart)
  •  25th January (Mannheim)

Hope to see as many Toastmasters as possible there!
