Club-Officer Training July 20th 2019 D2/D3/D5

The last officer training in Bavaria (for this Summer, don’t worry!) took place on July 20th, 2019 and brought together 50 Toastmasters.

Officers came from Ulm, Augsburg, Ingolstadt, Rosenheim and all the corners and areas of München, representing German, English, and even Chinese speaking clubs! Almost everyone claimed to have met new people and considers keeping in touch.

We had a general overview on the officer roles and their interfaces by Michael Wegelin and Mel Kelly (apparently, for 61.2 minutes he can talk serious business too!).

Ula Wyss, the immediate past president of the Effective Communicators, empowered and inspired the Club Presidents and their VP-Eds to be bold, think strategically, set the pace in the team and in the club.

Hongnan Sun, president of the Munich Chinese Club MuC, conducted the VP-Membership and Treasurers session, reminding the officers about the importance of being the right person at the right time and more importantly, delegating (of course, on time!).

Farzad Sekhavati, former president of the Effectives shared best practices with the VP-PRs, secretaries and sergeants at arms (insisting that their main duty is not to set up the meeting room, but writing their role title correctly).

Officers from different clubs conquered the stage and shared their learnings with everyone in the room.

What a great Table Topics session!

Full house! view from the 5th out of the 10 rows!

Merci to the ones who trained us!

Lorenzo Gios, current Program Quality Director in District 109, and moreover a true Italian, prepared with Markus Künkel, former District 59 Director in Switzerland and a very fresh member of the newly-founded Isar-Speak, introduced everyone to the moments of truth, the meeting roles, tasks of members. Not even Benjamin Schweikl, our Evaluation Champion in Goteborg, who accepted to support our session as a timer, managed to stop the duo with the red card.

The 109-duo in action: Lorenzo and Markus made us comfortable with all the (ugly) truths

Ineke Vermeulen, our previous Pathways ambassador, shared with us the best learnings from the roll-out of the new Toastmasters International educational program and the experiences since.

200 coffee mugs later (no worries, all biodegradable!), we got together in a Greek taverna. That’s the place where even a toastmaster can realize that they are not the loudest in the room and definitely not the ones with the most persuasive skills…

Stephanie Hobert (D2), Livia Balacescu (D3) and Michael Bischoff (D5) thank everyone for surviving together the heat wave and engaging so actively! A special thank you goes to the New European College for hosting us!

See you soon in the park (https://www.facebook.com/events/365613730818654/) or the latest in November at the Division Workshop Day!
